Ok, inspiration for today's Hong Kong Wednesday hit me like a ton of bricks while I was watching the evening news. Yes, the news. Today is all about Hong Kong in Film! Why did that hit me during the news? Because this weekend scenes from the new Batman movie are being shot here! I've told Sam that we should just happen to go out for lunch downtown on Saturday, and perhaps we could end up as extras in a Batman scene. Now how cool would THAT be! (They are filming in Central and SoHo, which is where a lot of our favorite restaurants are!)
So then I was thinking, What other famous movies have been filmed here? The first few that came to me are Tomb Raider, Die Another Day, Rush Hour 2, and parts of season 5 of the Alias series. There have been so many others, too. I am almost positive that some of either the Bourne Identity or Bourne Supremecy was shot here as well. A quick jaunt over to wikipedia tells me that the "warning scene" from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy was shot here, but I haven't seen that one so I couldn't tell you where it was. Also Spy Game (with Brad Pitt and Robert Redford) was shot here. There are probably hundreds of movies!

Famous Hong Kong actors that you have probably heard of: Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chow Yun-Fat, Bruce Lee, Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh, and Gong Li.
Famous Hong Kong directors that you have probably heard of: John Woo, Yuen Woo-ping
Famous Hong Kong movies that you may have heard of: Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, Infernal Affairs (recently remade in the US as The Departed)
